Oregon Policy Bans Chips, Soda Sales On Campus
Posted: 8:47 am EST February 27, 2009SALEM, Ore. — Some Oregon teachers want to be in the chips — and the sodas, too.

The sale of junk food in schools is banned in the state.

But the teachers say they should be able to buy the unhealthy snacks in their lounges.

Thursday, the state House gave its approval to the faculty junk food exemption. It now goes to the Oregon Senate.

Teachers say that, as adults, they have a right to make up their own minds about what to eat.

But opponents of the exemption contend teachers should be setting a good example for the kids.
