Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

Dr. Rashid Buttar will discuss the absurdity of vaccine safety. Do you really know what is in a vaccine? Are you in a state that is trying to limit religious exemptions for your children?

Among the 7 toxicities discussed in Dr. Buttar’s book, spiritual toxicity may be one of the most insidious. Is there a way to get beyond religious differences and see our common spiritual origins? We’ll start there.

How can we restore liberty in a country that often appears to no longer recognize or embrace it? Who are the enemies of liberty and what message do we have to deliver to them?

Join Dr. Buttar for his next Advanced Medicine Seminar in Chicago, IL Friday & Saturday, May 17th & 18th. If you can not make Chicago, the next seminar will be held in Charlotte, NC July 19th & 20th, 2013.

Would you like to spend a week with Dr. Buttar? Join him in Cancun Mexico for an All Inclusive Advanced Medicine Retreat at the Moon Palace Resort August 3rd to 10th. Details to be posted soon.
How do you respond to adversity? When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond?

For many of us, our response to adversity is predictable. Some of us get uptight and become harsh. Some of us bury our head in the sand and try our best to ignore the issue and hope it goes away. Some of us give up and wallow in our despair.

Then there are those, whom I admire, who seem to find a way when things are at their worst to get better and change the situation around them and turn it into a win for them.

There is a great story written by an unknown author that has been around for a while called “The Carrot, The Egg, and The Coffee Bean”. It is an awesome story that makes a perfect analogy about the choices we make when we are faced with adversity.

“The Carrot, The Egg, and The Coffee Bean”

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, “Tell me, what do you see?” “Carrots, eggs, and coffee,” she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, “What does it mean, mother?”

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity – boiling water. Each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

“Which are you?” she asked her daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?”

When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond?

Are you the carrot that seems strong but with pain and adversity you wilt and become soft and lose your strength?

Are you the egg that starts with a malleable heart but changes with the heat? Did you have a fluid spirit but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial you have become hardened and stiff?

Or are you like the coffee bean? When things are at their worst, do you get better and change the situation around you?

PHILADELPHIA (CN) – Merck has known for a decade that its mumps vaccine is “far less effective” than it tells the government, and it falsified test results and sold millions of doses of “questionable efficacy,” flooding and monopolizing the market, a primary caregiver claims in a federal antitrust class action.
Alabama-based Chatom Primary Care sued Merck on Monday, the week after the unsealing of a False Claims Act complaint two relators filed in 2010.
Those relators, Stephen Krahling and Joan Wlochowski, were Merck virologists who claim in their unsealed complaint that they “witnessed firsthand the improper testing and data falsification in which Merck engaged to artificially inflate the vaccine’s efficacy findings.”
Krahling and Wlochowski claimed Merck’s scheme caused the United States to pay “hundreds of millions of dollars for a vaccine that does not provide adequate immunization.”
”As the largest single purchaser of childhood vaccines (accounting for more than 50 percent of all vaccine purchases), the United States is by far the largest financial victim of Merck’s fraud,” according to the 2010 False Claims Act complaint. “But the ultimate victims here are the millions of children who every year are being injected with a mumps vaccine that is not providing them with an adequate level of protection. And while this is a disease that, according to the Centers for Disease Control (‘CDC’), was supposed to be eradicated by now, the failure in Merck’s vaccine has allowed this disease to linger, with significant outbreaks continuing to occur.”
The United States told a federal judge in April that it did not want to intervenein the False Claims case, but reserved the right to do so later.
Chatom says in its antitrust complaint that Merck falsely claims its mumps vaccine is 95 percent effective.
That claim “deterred and excluded competing manufacturers,” who would enter the risky and expensive vaccine market only if they believed they could craft a better product, Chatom says in its complaint.
Merck is the only manufacturer licensed by the FDA to sell the mumps vaccine in United States, and if it could not show that the vaccine was 95 percent effective, it risked losing its lucrative monopoly, according to the complaint.
That’s why Merck found it critically important to keep claiming such a high efficacy rate, the complaint states.
And, Chatom claims, that’s why Merck went to great lengths, including “manipulating its test procedures and falsifying the test results,” to prop up the bogus figure, though it knew that the attenuated virus from which it created the vaccine had been altered over the years during the manufacturing process, and that the quality of the vaccine had degraded as a result.
Starting in the late 1990s, Merck set out on its sham testing program with the objective of “report[ing] efficacy of 95 percent or higher regardless of the vaccine’s true efficacy,” the complaint states.
Chatom says Merck initially called its testing program Protocol 007.
Under Protocol 007, Merck did not test the vaccine’s ability to protect children against a “wild-type” mumps virus, which is “the type of real-life virus against which vaccines are generally tested,” the complaint states.
Instead, Chatom says, Merck tested children’s blood using its own attenuated strain of the virus.
”This was the same mumps strain with which the children were vaccinated,” the complaint states.
That “subverted” the purpose of the testing regime, “which was to measure the vaccine’s ability to provide protection against a disease-causing mumps virus that a child would actually face in real life. The end result of this deviation … was that Merck’s test overstated the vaccine’s effectiveness,” Chatom claims.
Merck also added animal antibodies to blood samples to achieve more favorable test results, though it knew that the human immune system would never produce such antibodies, and that the antibodies created a laboratory testing scenario that “did not in any way correspond to, correlate with, or represent real life … virus neutralization in vaccinated people,” according to the complaint.
Chatom claims that the falsification of test results occurred “with the knowledge, authority and approval of Merck’s senior management.”
And as Merck’s vaccine is the only game in town, the vaccine’s “significantly degraded” quality means “there has remained a significant risk of a resurgence of mumps outbreaks,” Chatom says in its complaint.
It claims that the degraded quality of the Merck vaccine played a role in a 2006 mumps outbreak in the Midwest, and in another outbreak in 2009.
Those outbreaks caused the Centers for Disease Control to push back its target date for eradicating the disease from 2010 to no earlier than 2020, the complaint states.
”But no amount of extra time or dosages will be enough to eliminate the disease when the vaccine does not work as represented in the labeling,” the complaint states. “It will merely allow Merck to continue to misrepresent the vaccine’s efficacy and thereby maintain its exclusive hold on the relevant market with an inadequate vaccine.”
Merck spokesman Ron Rogers told Courthouse News in a statement that the False Claims lawsuit “is completely without merit,” and that Chatom’s lawsuit is merely derivative of that case.
”Merck has presented information that demonstrated to the United States Department of Justice that these allegations are factually false, and after the Department conducted its own two-year investigation, it decided not to pursue this lawsuit,” Rogers said.
In addition, he said, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration “previously examined the issues raised in the lawsuit, and they were resolved to the agency’s satisfaction.”
Chatom seeks to represent the class of all those who bought Merck’s mumps vaccine from Jan. 1, 1999 to today.
It seeks damages for monopolization under the Sherman Act, violation of state consumer protection laws, unjust enrichment and breach of warranty.
Chatom is represented by Richard Golomb of Golomb & Honik, in Philadelphia.

Latest Merck Cover up - Mumps Vaccine - CDC and Julie Gerberding - How do you respond to adversity? All this and much more on this week's Medical Rewind with Dr. Rashid A. Buttar and Robert Scott Bell.

If you missed this week’s Medical Rewind with Dr. Rashid A. Buttar and Robert Scott Bell, be sure to go to www.MedicalRewind.com to listen to the show replay.

Some of the things you will hear Dr. Buttar and Robert talk about in this week’s show are:

The latest malevolent Merck cover-up – this time about their Mumps vaccine. Two of their virologists have come clean about efficacy claims of 95% success. Are you surprised that they were falsified?

Do you remember Julie Gerberding? She was head of the CDC for many years before leaving the marketing arm of the vaccine industry to head Merck’s 5 billion dollar criminal shot division. We might have a few words on this one.

Is the FDA much better than the CDC? There is an agenda there, especially if you want no innovation and no competition for the drugs of Big Pharma. Regulation is not what you think it is.

We’ll talk more about extricating ourselves from the public domain in order to re-establish a free-flow of healing information.

How do you respond to adversity? Love or fear? Gratitude or greed? Very often, things are not as they appear on the surface. When other entities appear to work against you, will you be prepared or will you panic? These are big questions, but we’ll attempt to answer them.

Another autoimmune disorder may be plaguing some recipients of HPV vaccines.

Another autoimmune disorder may be plaguing some recipients of HPV vaccines. Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura, a blood disorder that causes abnormal bleeding, is found in 7 times as many girls after HPV vaccination than any other type of vaccine—a serious indication of a connection.

Kristie was only 12 years old when she was diagnosed with a rare disorder for which there is no known cure, Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). This happened just a little over a month after her second injection of Gardasil. She will live with this disorder for the rest of her life. Unfortunately, she is not alone.

Gardasil and Cervarix are two of the 76 FDA approved vaccines included in the VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) database. Since Gardasil was approved for use in the United States, there have been 682 reports of ITP after vaccine administration. 126 of these reports occurred after HPV vaccines. If all vaccines carried equal risk, there should only be 18 reports of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura after HPV vaccine use. Why are reports of ITP after Gardasil and Cervarix seven times that amount?

How rare is ITP?

When disease incidence rates are quoted, it is almost always in the context of number of cases per 100,000 people. This is not the case with ITP.

According to the Medscape reference library, the incidence rates for ITP are as follows:

United States – adults – 66 cases per 1,000,000 per year

United States – children – 50 cases per 1,000,000 per year

Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is such a rare disorder that a diagnosis is rendered only after all other possible conditions that could cause purpura have been eliminated. This is called a ‘diagnosis of exclusion’. How many young people are living with undiagnosed ITP after HPV vaccine administration?

What is ITP?

Idiopathic simply means ‘of unknown origin.’ Frequently the word ‘immune’ is substituted for ‘idiopathic’ when referring to ITP because of the antibodies generated to specific platelet membrane proteins that cause the person’s immune system to attack their own platelets.

Thrombocytopenia is the medical term for a low blood platelet count. Platelets (thrombocytes) are minute, disk shaped particles in the blood that promote clotting. When an injury causes a blood vessel to break, the platelets are activated causing them to become spiny. The resulting ‘spines’ allow them to stick to each other and the broken blood vessel walls to begin the clotting process. The normal amount of platelets circulating in a person’s blood ranges from 150,000 to 450,000 per micro-liter. When the blood platelet count falls below 20,000 the thrombocytopenia can cause excessive internal bleeding.

Purpura refers to purple-colored spots and patches that occur on the skin, organs, and in mucus membranes, including the lining of the mouth. Purpura is caused by internal bleeding from small blood vessels.

In short, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is an autoimmune disorder caused by immunoglobulin G (IgG) auto-antibodies on the platelet surface. The number of circulating platelets is reduced due to increased destruction resulting in internal bleeding of varying degrees. ITP in children most commonly occurs following an infection, or occasionally following immunisation. Acute (sudden onset) ITP often resolves spontaneously within a few months. When ITP persists longer than 6 months without specific cause, the condition is considered chronic.

What are the symptoms of ITP?

Simply having a low platelet count does not cause symptoms. However, the bleeding that a low platelet count can cause may have the following signs:

Pinpoint red spots on the skin, often found in groups that may look like a rash, caused by bleeding under the skin. These spots are called petechiae (see photo on the right).

Petechiae & Purpura

Bruising or purplish areas (purpura) on the skin or mucous membranes caused by bleeding under the skin. (photo on the right)

More excessive bleeding can cause hematomas. A hematoma is a collection of clotted or partially clotted blood under the skin that feels like a lump. (photo lower right)

Nosebleeds, bleeding from the gums or excessive bleeding after injury.

Menstrual bleeding that is heavier than usual.

Some people experience untoward, otherwise unexplained fatigue when their platelet count is under 10,000/microl.

Hemorrhage is the most serious potential complication, intracranial (within the skull) being the most significant. (Note: the risk for major bleedingin otherwise healthy people is great only when the platelet count is less than 10,000/microl.)

Bleeding in the brain is rare. Symptoms of bleeding in the brain include:
Sudden severe headaches, seizures with no previous history of seizures, weakness in arm(s) or leg(s), nausea or vomiting, decreased alertness, lethargy, changes in vision, tingling or numbness, difficulty speaking or understanding speech, difficulty swallowing, difficulty reading or writing, loss of fine motor skills (such as hand trembling), loss of coordination, loss of balance, abnormal sense of taste, or loss of consciousness. (Note: many of these symptoms are often caused by other conditions.)

Hematoma

A diagnosis of ITP is at the very least a life changing event. Worst case scenario, it can be life threatening. Kirstie from Lima NY, now 18 years of age, is one of the lucky ones. Her post-Gardasil diagnosis of ITP changed her life, but she made the most of those changes. There are others who may not have been so fortunate.

18.5% of the ITP reports in the VAERS database since the time Gardasil and Cervarix were approved for use occurred after HPV vaccinations. There are at least 126 families whose lives have been changed, perhaps forever. No one knows how many others are either undiagnosed or unreported.

Admittedly, a VAERS report does not prove causation. The problem with that line of thinking is that cause will never be established if no one looks for it.

What can you do?

Do some research if you are a considering HPV vaccination. Understand the potential risks associated with Gardasil and Cervarix as well as the potential benefits. Decide for yourself whether the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks. No one knows your family’s medical history better than you.

If you have been vaccinated with either Gardasil or Cervarix, be aware that ITP is a possibility. Don’t panic, simply be vigilant. Talk to your medical provider if you are experiencing unusual bruising or unexplained rashes.

If you are a medical professional, consider the possibility of ITP when examining patients who exhibit unexplained purpura after administration of HPV vaccines.

If you are a medical consumer, contact the FDA and CDC. Ask them why such a high percentage of ITP reports in the VAERS database occurred after HPV vaccines. Ask them why two vaccines being associated with 18.5% of the ITP reports in VAERS does not raise a red flag. Ask them why they are not ordering studies to determine whether there could be a causal relationship between HPV vaccines and ITP.

The American Academy of Neurology recommends avoiding valproate in pregnancy whenever possible due to cognitive and physical birth defect problems for children exposed in utero

Be sure to listen to the Monday, April 29th Medical Rewind show with Dr. Rashid Buttar and Robert Scott Bell to find out what Dr. Buttar has to say about this article.

———————————————————————————————————————————-

Women who take valproate (Depacon) during pregnancy may increase the risk of childhood autism and its spectrum disorders in their children, a population-based study showed.

In utero exposure to the drug was associated with a five-fold elevated risk of autism and three-fold elevated risk for autism spectrum disorder, Jakob Christensen, PhD, of Denmark’s Aarhus University Hospital, and colleagues found.

The absolute risks were 2.5% and 4.4%, respectively, and remained significantly elevated after adjustment for parents’ epilepsy and psychiatric disease, the group reported in the April 24 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

“For women of childbearing potential who use anti-epileptic medications, these findings must be balanced against the treatment benefits for women who require valproate for epilepsy control,” they concluded.

But “because autism spectrum disorders are serious conditions with lifelong implications for affected children and their families, even a moderate increase in risk may have major health importance,” they added.

The American Academy of Neurology recommends avoiding valproate in pregnancy whenever possible due to cognitive and physical birth defect problems for children exposed in utero.

The additional risk of autism and spectrum disorders needs to be included in counseling for women now too, Kimford Meador, MD, and David Loring, PhD, both of Emory University in Atlanta, recommended in an accompanying editorial.

“Because approximately half of the pregnancies in the U.S. are unplanned, delaying discussions of treatment risks until a pregnancy is considered will leave a substantial number of children at unnecessary risk,” they warned. “Women of childbearing potential should be informed of the potential risks of fetal valproate exposure before valproate is prescribed.”

The study included all 655,615 children born in Denmark from 1996 through 2006. National registries indicated autism spectrum disorder diagnoses — childhood autism, Asperger syndrome, atypical autism, and other or unspecified pervasive developmental disorders — in 5,437 children through follow-up to a mean age of 8.8 years.

Filled valproate prescriptions suggested exposure during pregnancy in 508 children.

After adjusting for parental age at conception and psychiatric history, gestational age, sex, congenital malformations, and other potentially confounding factors, the risks for valproate-exposed children remained elevated.

Compared with those whose mothers had used the drug but stopped at least 30 days before conception, the hazard ratios were:

2.2-fold higher risk of autism spectrum disorder (95% CI 1.02 to 4.9)

5.6-fold higher risk of childhood autism (95% CI 1.7 to 18.1)

The drug has an indication for manic and mixed episodes in bipolar disorder and for migraine prevention in addition to seizure control.

When looking only at children of mothers with epilepsy (432 of 508), the risk of autism was 2.9 times higher with valproate exposure, with an absolute risk of 2.95% versus 1.02% among all others in the cohort not exposed to the drug.

Autism spectrum disorder was also 70% elevated in that analysis, but not statistically significant.

The risk for kids exposed to valproate during gestation also appeared elevated if the mother wasn’t taking it for epilepsy, but the numbers were small.

This finding suggested a true biological effect of the drug rather than the underlying condition, possibly via alteration of neurotransmitter functioning involved in cell migration and differentiation, neuronal apoptosis, or synaptic plasticity.

But the smaller impact in the maternal epilepsy group than overall indicated some confounding, Christensen’s group noted.

“We cannot exclude the possibility that children of women who used valproate during pregnancy may be examined more carefully for autism spectrum disorders, because valproate has been associated with adverse effects,” they acknowledged.

Exposure during the first trimester when organs are forming and other aspects of timing didn’t appear to influence the autism risk with valproate.

That may not have been very reliable, though, since the timing was based on when women filled the prescription not when they took the pills, and because few women took the drug solely in later pregnancy.

The study lacked data on the dose of valproate, whether women actually took the pills that they picked up from the pharmacy, or their alcohol and folic acid supplement use in pregnancy.

————————————————————————————————————————————————

A first-ever vaccine created by University of Guelph researchers for gut bacteria common in autistic children may also help control some autism symptoms.

The groundbreaking study by Brittany Pequegnat and Guelph chemistry professor Mario Monteiro appears this month in the journal Vaccine.

They developed a carbohydrate-based vaccine against the gut bug Clostridium bolteae.

C. bolteae is known to play a role in gastrointestinal disorders, and it often shows up in higher numbers in the GI tracts of autistic children than in those of healthy kids.

More than 90 per cent of children with autism spectrum disorders suffer from chronic, severe gastrointestinal symptoms. Of those, about 75 per cent suffer from diarrhea, according to current literature.

“Little is known about the factors that predispose autistic children to C. bolteae,” said Monteiro. Although most infections are handled by some antibiotics, he said, a vaccine would improve current treatment.

“This is the first vaccine designed to control constipation and diarrhea caused by C. bolteae and perhaps control autism-related symptoms associated with this microbe,” he said.

Autism cases have increased almost sixfold over the past 20 years, and scientists don’t know why. Although many experts point to environmental factors, others have focused on the human gut.

Some researchers believe toxins and/or metabolites produced by gut bacteria, including C. bolteae, may be associated with symptoms and severity of autism, especially regressive autism.

Pequegnat, a master’s student, and Monteiro used bacteria grown by Mike Toh, a Guelph PhD student in the lab of microbiology professor Emma Allen-Vercoe.

The new anti- C. bolteae vaccine targets the specific complex polysaccharides, or carbohydrates, on the surface of the bug.

The vaccine effectively raised C. bolteae-specific antibodies in rabbits. Doctors could also use the vaccine-induced antibodies to quickly detect the bug in a clinical setting, said Monteiro.

The vaccine might take more than 10 years to work through preclinical and human trials, and it may take even longer before a drug is ready for market, Monteiro said.

“But this is a significant first step in the design of a multivalent vaccine against several autism-related gut bacteria,” he said.

Monteiro has studied sugar-based vaccines for two other gastric pathogens: Campylobacter jejuni, which causes travellers’ diarrhea; and Clostridium difficile, which causes antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

The research was supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council.

Homeopathy is used to reverse post-partum depression in Ron Howard’s daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard! Why isn’t it front-page news? Oh yeah, that only happens if a Hollywood celebrity isn’t wearing knickers…

On the Monday, April 29th Medical Rewind Show, listen to Dr. Buttar and Robert Scott Bell discuss the workable solutions that can be integrated into any conscious medical practice.

—————————————————————————————————————–

A homeopathic drug made actress Bryce Dallas Howard realize she needed to seek help for depression after her son was born. The Twilight star didn’t realise she was suffering from postpartum depression after the birth of her first child, Theo, in 2007 until she started a new treatment and became a totally different person. Howard explains, “It (depression) went untreated for, like, a year and a half… He (Theo) was born and I just felt like I was tumbling into this pit… I felt nothing normal at all, but I didn’t know what that meant and I felt ashamed about it and it just got worse.

“I ended up doing this homeopathic treatment for something else… and it was just one day, suddenly, a light went on. “I took the treatment in the morning and my friend came to me in the afternoon, and he was just like, ‘Oh my God, you’re back!’ I just felt like the world had changed and then I started going to see doctors and I realised that something had been really, really wrong.” The Help star avoided postpartum following the birth of her second child, Beatrice Jean, last year (12).

The new claimed drug link to autism

Is it true that Valproate use during pregnancy increases the risk of autism by a factor of five? We’ll see what we can do to get to the bottom of it.
