Ovarian screening has been found to not increase longevity of cancer patients due to false readings and late diagnosis. There are also no clear causes of ovarian cancer, which makes it difficult to establish clear prevention guidelines. However there are some healthy dietary tips that may reduce your chance of developing ovarian cancer, including avoiding high fat/refined sugar products, taking omega 3 fish oils, and maintaining a healthy balance of vitamin A.

While cell phones may pose a health risk to the millions of Americans that use them on a daily basis, they are undoubtedly essential in today's technology dependent world. To reduce the risk of cell phone radiation, you should follow these simple precautions:

- When possible, use a hands-free option such as Bluetooth or speaker phone
- Text rather than talk on the phone
- When available, use a land line rather than a cellular phone
- Do not keep your cell phone in your pocket

Comment on A Breast Cancer Treatment Works as Prevention Too by sarab

While it is great that a breast cancer treatment drug may prevent breast cancer from developing in the first case, it is important to also remember elementary prevention protocols, such as avoiding pesticides and eating organic foods. Our society relies so much on drugs, while ignoring the most basic and essential ways to stay healthy. Some side effects of this breast cancer drug may remain unknown for a long time; why not play it safe and live a healthier lifestyle to prevent cancer from developing?

Natural tips to avoid breast cancer:
- Protect yourself from the sun.
- Avoid radiation as much as possible.
- Use non toxic cleaning products.
- Eat hormone free meat and dairy.

Comment on Why Parents Who Smoke Put Their Kids at Risk by sarab

The negative effects of smoking have been widely known for several decades, and the fact that prenatal smoking is detrimental to a child's health is not a new revelation either. So why do pregnant parents smoke? Risking the health of an infant due to a tobacco addiction seems unimaginable. Yet some insist that this is nothing but hype; after all, less than 50 years ago, a majority of women smoked or drank while pregnant and their “generation turned out fine”. However, these claims are dismissed by the outrageous amounts of health problems that the baby boom generation is now experiencing, including cancer, obesity, and asthma. Whether or not these illnesses are a direct result of prenatal smoking is unknown. Still, throwing out your pack while pregnant- or not pregnant- will undoubtedly benefit you and your family in the long run.

It is important to maintain a healthy diet while trying to lose weight. While certain foods have the label of being healthy, they can in fact contain high calories and little nutrition. When looking at a “salad” menu, make sure that the meal you order is a healthy combination of greens, and not a fatty concoction of processed meats and cheeses. Also be sure to look at nutrition labels before your purchase “healthy foods”; companies are now becoming slick when enticing consumers to buy products that are actually far less healthy than they appear.
