Dr. Buttar Speaks - Thimerosal in Flu Vaccine? YES - Video Response - Dr. Buttar's Blog
A week or so ago, we referenced a blog post by Ms. Marcella Piper-Terry on her blog entitled “Thimerosal in Flu Vaccine? YES” and it received quite a bit of attention. It also received a rather lengthy reply from an Unknown blogger by the name of Skepacabra that runs some sort of Tabloid “News” type blog. Skepacabra went on to call Dr. Buttar an anti-vaccine kook on his blog. Dr. Buttar has done a video response to this mystery blogger and gives quite a bit of information about Thimerosal in Flu Vaccines which you can watch below. Below that, I have also pasted Skepacabra’s reply that Dr. Buttar references in the videos.
Skepacabra says:
Um, no. Actually it’s Marcella Piper-Terry who’s outright lying. First of all, nobody’s claiming Thimerosal has been removed from all childhood flu vaccines, only all the other childhood vaccines required by the age of two. Second, the great U.S. Thimerosal purge occurred in 2002, not 2004 as Ms. Piper-Terry claims…but of course who’s counting? Certainly not this woman who justifies giving out harmful medical advice by having such a firm grasp of the details. Third, while it is true at the time that some childhood vaccine reserves w/ Thimerosal did continue to float around a while after the purge that’s certainly not the case today. They’re certainly not still using flu vaccines from before 2002. Anyone else remember the flu vaccine shortage a few years ago? New flu vaccines had to be made because they ran out of old ones. But again, no one claims Thimerosal has been removed from all flu vaccines anyway, only the other vaccines. Given that those details were not explained by Ms. Piper-Terry, I’m left wondering whether she’s merely attempting to knock down a straw man by calling doctors liars for saying something that they never said in the first place.
Fourth, all of this is nothing but a red herring argument anyway since such small traces of Thimerosal in vaccines have been scientifically proven to have no link to autism or serious negative side effects. Remember, prior to 2002, in the late 90’s Scandinavia and Canada both removed Thimerosal from the majority of their vaccines too. Since both of these purges, the epic fail of the anti-vaccine movement has been that there has been no significant reduction of autism. And in California, the rate has even increased since 2002. This leads rational scientific minds to only one possible conclusion: VACCINES NEITHER CAUSE NOR CONTRIBUTE TO AUTISM!
Even if you were to argue that vaccines were only one of several causes/contributors to autism or that autism is the result of “too much too soon”, your hypothesis is still sunk as again we would expect to have seen a dramatic decrease in the rate of autism after the rather dramatic reduction of Thimerosal in vaccines. THAT HASN’T HAPPENED! This leads us to another rather definitive conclusion: either vaccines are not responsible for autism or they play such a minor role in autism (since such a dramatic reduction in Thimerosal showed no significant change) as to make the whole “debate” over Thimerosal unproductive, impractical, and just simply a waste of time, effort, and money.
And lastly, I should warn you that there’s Vitamin C in oranges. Vitamin C has been proven dangerous in large doses so keep it away from your kids. If you’re a rational person who understands why this is a absurd warning, you have no excuse not to recognize why your own position on vaccines is equally absurd. Good day.
Quotes and sources:
“From time to time, rumors circulate that thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative once used in several vaccines (and still used in some flu vaccine), could contribute to ASDs. However, valid scientific studies have shown there is no link. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Medical Association (AMA), the CDC, and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) agree that science does not support a link between thimerosal in vaccines and autism.” -American Academy of Pediatrics (http://www.aap.org/healthtopics/Immunizations.cfm)“The author concludes that recent studies have found no association between MMR vaccination and autism. The frequent embryologic neuroanatomic abnormalities found in children with autism lessen the likelihood that MMR immunization is a major risk factor. The Immunization Safety Review Committee of the Institute of Medicine and a special American Academy of Pediatrics panel have concluded that evidence does not support MMR immunization as a risk factor for autism.” -RICHARD SADOVSKY, M.D., American Academy of Family Physicians (http://www.aafp.org/afp/20020301/tips/14.html)
“On May 18th, 2004, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) released its eighth and final report from its Immunization Safety Review Committee. Based on a thorough review of clinical and epidemiological studies, neither the mercury-based vaccine preservative thimerosal nor the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine are associated with autism, says the new report. Furthermore, the hypotheses regarding how the MMR vaccine and thimerosal could trigger autism lack supporting evidence and are theoretical only. Further research to find the cause of autism should be directed toward other lines of inquiry that are supported by current knowledge and evidence and offer more promise for providing an answer, said the committee that wrote the report. The American Medical Association (AMA) lauds the process that went into the creation of this scientific report and applauds the IOM and the CDC for their strong efforts in continuing to ensure the safety of the vaccines that are administered in the United States through post-market surveillance and studies such as this.” -American Medical Association (http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/13703.html”
“Some people believe increased exposure to thimerosal (from the addition of important new vaccines recommended for children) explains the higher prevalence in recent years. However, evidence from several studies examining trends in vaccine use and changes in autism frequency does not support such an association. Furthermore, a scientific review* by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) concluded that “the evidence favors rejection of a causal relationship between thimerosal-containing vaccines and autism.” CDC supports the IOM conclusion.” –Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/concerns/thimerosal.htm)
“There is much debate regarding the correlation of childhood vaccines and the occurrence of autism in children. The weight of currently available scientific evidence does not support the hypothesis that vaccines cause autism. We recognize there is considerable public interest in this issue.” -U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Resources (http://www.hhs.gov/autism/)

Thanks for telling it like it is. The shame is that so many parents are just too trusting of the medical establishment and do not have the time or the inclination to do their own research when it comes to their kids’ health. There is a wonderful website for mothers at momsagainstmercury.org that educates us about the dangers of mercury in the flu vaccine. The only motivation of the medical establishment is money. Mo money. Our children’s health is more important than fattening the m.d.’s wallets! Thanks again for telling the truth! So many who claim to be doctors, do in fact do harm rather than “do no harm”!

We go to great lengths to test vaccines and medicines, but it’s true that we don’t go far enough to test the preservatives and containers. It shouldn’t be up to the common population to be making these complicated decisions; the doctors should be more on their patients’ side in informing them and suggesting alternatives when there is risk.

Thank you for the information. Very helpful to a parent that is about to have twins that will visit the Dr.’s office next month for vaccinations. There are several resources in the comments that I will research too before their appointment. I think that this issue is critical to the health of all children. The video response is much more effective than a long written response.

I truely am appreciative of this site. I cannot express enough to parents, that they should look into each and every vaccine that is given or about to be given to their children before they recieve it. There is a lot of chemicals, some that we are unaware of, that can do harm to not only children but to adults. I think parents should be a lot more aware of what vaccines contain and what kind of harm they can do to children. There is a lot out there that parents dont know, and need to research, so that they know exactly the good and the bad that the actual vaccine can do.

I am still unconvinced about the thimerosal in vaccines.
I agree that there is some compelling evidence linking
thimerosal to adverse vaccine reactions and disease. But there are also credible sources that refute the link between thimerosal and health issues. It is one of those health issues that I’m keeping an eye on for the time being. There is compelling evidence for both sides, imo. I’m more concerned about thimerosal in childhood vaccines as opposed to the flu vaccine as the flu vaccine isn’t one that my children have received. It doesn’t seem like there is a strong enough correlation at this point to make the definitive statement about thimerosal being responsible for a variety of ills. Having said that, I’ll keep an eye on your blog and continue to read other sources as well. The video is a very effective method of replying to comments. Thanks for the information.

Dear Dr. Buttar:
Thank-you for your astute and passionate attention to this issue, and your willingness to speak the truth. The Vaclav Hovel quote says it all: “Follow those who seek the truth; flee from those who have found it.”
I have felt like the only one (in Indiana, at least) who believes the connection between Eli Lilly, thimerosal, Mitch Daniels, coal-burning power plants, and the suspicious rider to the Homeland Security Act are related, but to me it certainly makes sense.
Governor Mitch Daniels (R) Indiana, has been and continues to push for more coal-related sources of energy. In Southwestern Indiana, we have the highest rate of suicide in the U.S. (4 x the national average) and we rank 5th in the U.S. for the rate of Autism (per IDEA data). We are also the coal-burning power plant capitol of the world - (coal provides an ongoing source of heavy metal toxicity to our children, through air, water, and soil contamination in the heartland of our country). Our top five agricultural crops are: wheat, soy, corn, dairy, and eggs - the same five things that when removed from the diets of children with autism, result in significant improvements in behavior and overall physical well-being.
The government’s current push to ensure that ALL children AND pregnant women receive the flu vaccine seems to be fueled by the push from particular government officials to ensure that our children continue to receive thimerosal, so that when the question is asked, “Where did my child get the mercury from?” the answer will be so clouded that there cannot be any accountability.
Our children have been poisoned in the past and they continue to be poisoned in the present - it is only the focus on the source that has shifted.
Thank-you so much for what you do.
God Bless You.
Marcella Piper-Terry, M.S.

Dear Dr. Buttar,
Thanks for all you do.
As the mother of two severely vaccine damaged children I have followed your work and am very grateful you continue to attempt to educate the rest of the public about the dangers of vaccines. I once believed the vaccines were safe and now my boys have tested positive for excessive Mercury and Aluminum poisoning and vaccine strain viral/bacterial damage for polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Hep B. We are currently treating them for vaccine damage and that is the only thing which is starting to make them better.
I am also a list-mate (and I consider a friend) to Marcella Piper-Terry on a statewide alternative medicine support group. Marcella has had clinician training through the Autism Research Institute. She has seen first hand the devastation of vaccine damage and other environmental toxins such as pesticides and toxins from other Industrial pollution. She knows how treating for that underlying damage is what helps individuals get better but she tirelessly fights against further pollution, especially in our own state of Indiana.
For those who think the jury is still out on the vaccine/autism connection or who think evidence points the other way, the independent research shows a justifiable connection. It is only the studies funded by the gov’t (including foreign governments) and the pharmaceutical industry which continue to show no connection.

Keep it coming. There is too much blind faith in the mainstream medical services by too many people. Whilst they do a lot of good in many areas, they are in the main tied to the pharmaceutical companies for fear of being sued if they advise anything that has not been FDA (or other countries equiverlant) approved.
I myself promote and sell an advanced colloidal silver solution which has been tested to death and proven to be safe to use and highly effective against pathogens, yet I have been viciously attacked on a “skeptics forum”.
These people are just nasty. There starting point to anybody with an alternative point of view is that they are either liars or fools (or both). There is no acceptance of a different point of view. If peoples religious or culturals beliefs were attacked with the same viciousness, all hell would break loose; but when it comes to health, skeptics are free to be as abusive as they like.

Dear Ms. Marcella Piper-Terry. Thank YOU for your willingness to write so emphatically in your original article that caused the ill response from our mutual “disillusioned friend”. I have long spoken openly and candidly regarding these subjects and those who know me know that I am not fear based. I guess that’s a side effect of having served with some of the US Army’s elite units. However, it is rare to find another who also does not hesitate to speak the truth and is not fear based. I appreciate what you have said and done. God has blessed people like us and it is our responsibility to help as many others with knowledge and awarness and anything else we can offer. Keep up the good work and perhaps one day our paths will cross in person. I appreciate you.

Maria and Charlie, thank you for your comments and your willingness to participate and contribute to dialogue that will facilitate understanding for others, and God willingly influence the masses.

Hello,
People are seriously concerned about vaccination. Medical degrees and citation are mandatory to voice any opinion on such topic. Medical experts are trying to inform the public about the advantages and disadvantages of vaccination. There is no freedom of speech in health care. Giving medical advice is restricted to those who enjoyed the appropriate training for very good reasons.
skepacabra.wordpress.com is clearly an attack site. The content is to involve 100% hate speech and schadenfreude. I found it to be very shocking and I have contacted wordpress.com and reported it as such.
Illegal content, hate site, attack site and it also qualifies as a pharmacy spam blog.
More examples:
“David Kirby wrote a childish and insulting rebuttal to the review. This only led to an even greater bitch-slapping at the hands of the original reviewer.”
“Cultists and their false “cures” - Actually, usually they avoid words like “cure” and opt for more ambiguous terms like “boost your immune system” or “recovered” or as Jenny McCarthy has recently stated in a video, autism is “reversible” even though presently it is not. This blog also talks about the many flat-out falsehoods stated by the infamous alternative medicine cultist Joe Mercola.”
